Functions of a backhoe loader
The backhoe is named for the movement it makes when it digs: up and down and front and back towards the machine. Thanks to this configuration, it can dig in a lower plane than where it is located.
It is also called a backhoe or mixed excavator, among other names. The main difference between a backhoe and an excavator is that the former has two elements: the shovel and the bucket. That is why they are more versatile.

The need to use stabilizers limits its manoeuvrability and slows down the work: every time you want to move, you have to lift the stabilizers, move it and stabilize it again.
