The functions of the metallurgical laboratory

These facilities simulate all the processes to be carried out in the beneficiation plant such as comminution which is the reduction of solid materials from an average particle size to a smaller average particle size, by crushing, grinding, cutting, vibration or other processes.

Gravimetric processes are also carried out, which is the measurement of small variations in the earth’s gravity field, as a consequence of mass distributions present in the subsurface (density deficiencies and/or excesses).

Flotation processes are also carried out in the metallurgical laboratory, which is a physico-chemical process of separating finely ground minerals or compounds, based on the surface properties of the minerals, causing one or more minerals to remain in one phase or to move to another.

The metallurgical laboratory helps the plant to make better plans for recovery and optimisation of the beneficiation plant processes. We can also measure the concentration of salts in the wastewater from the industrial process in order to generate minimum negative impacts on the environment.
